Inzy calls for sacking captain, coach

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq demanded the sacking of current skipper Younus Khan and coach Intikhab Alam.

In fact, Inzaman suggested that Shahid Afridi must replace Younus, after Pakistan's ODI series loss to New Zealand in Abu Dhabi.

Inzamam said he was appalled at the way things were being handled in the team and called on the board to sack the captain and coach Intikhab Alam immediately.

"It is the right time for the board to show some teeth and appoint Shahid Afridi as captain of the one-day team after replacing Younus and Intikhab," Inzamam said.

"I think the stubbornness of Younus is damaging the team. He has been given too much authority which he is not using properly.

"To save his reputation he is damaging the team. He has to understand that with authority comes responsibility and he has to take all the players alongside him," he added.

Inzamam said the frequent changes in the team were affecting the morale of the players and this was visible in the way they lost to New Zealand.

"It made no sense to me to first drop Shoaib Malik and then Mohammad Yousuf for the last match. I don't understand how this so-called rotation policy is benefiting the team. In fact, it is sending out the wrong messages to other players," said Inzamam, Pakistan's most capped player.

"Coach Intikhab Alam should also be replaced as he had failed to sort out issues within the team and balance the authority of the captain," he said.

Inzamam was angry at the way senior players like Malik and Yousuf were being treated by the team management.

"There was no reason for dropping or resting them. In the Champions Trophy, we just barely beat a depleted West Indies and the only good match we played was against India and in that game Malik and Yousuf were responsible for the victory and yet they have been dropped," he said.

He said being the captain Younus was the one who should be showing the way for other players by scoring runs.

"Why blame others when the captain is struggling himself.
