Steady rains could prove a dampener

Steady unseasonal rains in Mumbai are threatening to wash out Wednesday's final ODI between India and Australia.

The rains, which started just past noon, did not allow the Indian team to have their match-eve practice session while the Australian team managed to do theirs in the morning.

The persistent showers continued till late in the evening and have made the outfield wet at the D Y Patil Stadium.

Unless the rains stop and the sun shines brightly on Wednesday morning, a prompt start at 2:30 pm may not be possible.

The match itself is only of academic interest with Australia having taken an unassailable 4-2 lead going into the concluding tie.

Two key visiting team players, Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson, will not be available to play in the match as they are on their way home before the tie.
