"Old culture is damaging Pak cricket"

Former captain Aamer Sohail has blamed "player-power" and PCB's old style functioning for all the muddle in Pak cricket.

He suggested things should be set right by sacking players who do not support the captain.

Sohail said players who are creating problems for current skipper Younus Khan, should be sacked immediately.

"If any player or players are not supporting Younus Khan then I think it is the job of the Board to tell them to go.

"I think this old culture and problem of player-power should be rooted out completely from Pakistan cricket. If any player think he is bigger than the team, he should be dropped," he fumed.

Sohail, who resigned from a senior position in the PCB due to differences with Chairman Ejaz Butt, said, after being appointed as captain until the 2011 World Cup it was the duty of all players to support Younus whole-heartedly.

Sohail said the Board needed to show some teeth and back Younus completely even if he is not doing well with the bat.

"Every player goes through a bad patch and Younus needs to be supported right now. His bad form should not be used as an excuse to work against him by anyone," he said.

Sohail also repeated his demand that coach Intikhab Alam should be replaced.

"Intikhab was brought in as a senior and father figure but so far he has failed to gel this team," he said.
