Mumbai one-dayer called off

The seventh and final ODI between India and Australia has been called off after heavy rains in Mumbai washed out the tie.

Rains lashed Mumbai all day and the possibility of the match off being played looked remote since the every hour.

SportsCenter correspondent Sai Prasad Mahapatra, who was all along observing the situation in Mumbai, said the ground always looked very wet.

"The ground staff said they will need two hours to get the field ready for play but that is provided the rain stops.

"However, looking at the rain, I think it looks rather rough as of now. It is just a matter of time before the match is called off."

The Board President's XI and Sri Lanka warm-up match also suffered on what has been a chaoctic day for India's commerical capital, with the first day being washed out without a ball being bowled.

Australia had already pocketed the series 4-2, winning the sixth ODI in Guwahati on Sunday. The Mumbai ODI in any case did not have any bearing on the series.
