Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday completed 20 years in international cricket. Here is a statistical glimpse of his career.

Sachin became the first India and 16th in the history of international cricket to play the game for more than two decades.

February 10-13, 1990

Produced an outstanding innings of 88 against New Zealand at McLean Park, Napier and fell 12 runs short of becoming the youngest scorer of a Test hundred

March 6, 1990

Recorded his first one-day run in his third match against New Zealand at Basin Reserve, Wellington. His excellent innings of 36, while batting at number 6, has played a vital role in India reaching 221. India eventually defeated New Zealand by just one run.

August 9-14, 1990

Registered 68 & 119 in the 1990 Old Trafford Test against England and at 17 years 112 days, Tendulkar became the second-youngest after Mushtaq Mohammad (17 years 82 days) to score a Test century.

December 5, 1990

Tendulkar was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match for the first time in ODIs. As first-change bowler, he dismissed the Sri Lankan openers - Roshan Mahanama and Dammika Ranatunga - and then posted 53 off 41 to take India to the winning target.

January 2-6, 1992

Recorded an unbeaten 148 in the Sydney Test to become the youngest at 18 yers 256 days to post a Test hundred in Australia.

February 1-5, 1992

With his 114 in the Perth Test, Sachin, for the first time, has recorded two centuries in the same series.For the first time in a Test series, he amassed 300-plus - 368 at an average of 46.00 in five Tests.

March 7, 1992

Completed 1,000 runs in ODIs in his 34 innings, 36 Matches (vs.Zimbabwe at Hamilton)

April, 1992

Became the first overseas player to sign for Yorkshire.

November 13-17, 1992

While playing against South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban, he (11 run out) became the first player to be given out by a television replay, monitored by a third umpire off the field.

November 26-30, 1992

Completed 1,000 runs, during the course of his hundred (111) at The Wanderers, Johannesburg in 28 Test innings (19 Tests).

February 11-15, 1993

Posted 165 against England at M.A.Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, registering his first hundred in India. During the course of his innings, became the first batsman to make five Test centuries before his 20th birthday.

July 27-August 1, 1993

Recorded an unbeaten 104 - his sixth hundred in 39 innings - against Sri Lanka at Colombo, SSC.

November 24, 1993

South Africa needed six runs to win off the last over in the C.A.Jubilee Tournament (Hero Cup) semi-final against India at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Tendulkar bowled a sensational over, conceding just three. That over was the only bowled by him in the innings, enabling India to register a two-run win.

January 18-22, 1994

Scored 142 off 224 balls against Sri Lanka at Lucknow and became the first to post seven hundreds before his 21st birthday.

March 19-23, 1994

Playing his 44th Test innings at Seddon Park, Hamilton, Tendulkar, at 20 years 331 days, became the youngest to complete 2,000 runs. He had taken four years and 124 days to reach this milestone.

March 27, 1994

Opened in an ODI for the first time - against New Zealand at Auckland - making 82 off 49 balls, enabling India to a seven-wicket triumph.

April 13, 1994

Completed 2,000 runs in ODIs - 70 innings, 73 Matches (vs.UAE at Sharjah)

September 9, 1994

Posted his first century in his 79th match, against Australia at Colombo RPS.Thanks to his brilliant knock of 110 off 130 balls, India registered a 31-run victory. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.

December 1-5, 1994

Scored 179 and 54 against West Indies at Nagpur - his first hundred against West Indies.

April 9, 1995

Completed 3,000 runs in ODIs - 93 innings, 96 Matches (vs.Sri Lanka at Sharjah)

October, 1995

Signed a five-year contract worth Rs 31.5 crore with WorldTel, making him the richest cricketer in the world.

February-March 1996

For the first time in his career, he had amassed 500 runs in a competition. With 523 runs at an average of 87.16 in seven games, Tendulkar became the highest run-getter in the World Cup, providing the first instance when a batsman has made more than 500 runs in a World Cup.

April 17,1996

Completed 4,000 runs in ODIs -112 innings in 115 matches.

July 4-9, 1996

In the drawn Trent Bridge game, he registered two outstanding innings - 177 & 74. His tenth hundred was his fourth against England. Shared a third-wicket stand of 255 with Sourav Ganguly, India's highest for any wicket in England.

October 10-13, 1996

Appointed India's Test captain in the one-off Test against Australia at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi and received the new Gavaskar-Border Trophy for winners of series between these two countries.

December 8-12, 1996

Playing in his 45th Test, Tendulkar, at the age of 23 years 228 days, became the youngest to complete 3,000 runs. He took seven years 23 days since making his debut in Tests to achieve the feat.

January 2-6, 1997

Tendulkar posted 169 off 254 balls in the Cape Town Test - his eleventh century. Shared a 222-run stand in 175 minutes off 39.2 overs with Mohammad Azharuddin, a sixth-wicket record for India against South Africa. This partnership is a record for India against South Africa for any wicket in South Africa.

February 12,1997

Completed 5,000 runs in ODIs -138 innings in 141 matches.

August 2-7 & 9-13, 1997

Posted two hundreds in successive innings for the first time - 143 off 247 balls against Sri Lanka at Colombo RPS, followed by 139 off 266 balls at Colombo SSC.

November 19-23, 1997

Completed 1,000 runs in 15 Tests as captain, during his innings of 23 against Sri Lanka at Mohali.

December 3-7, 1997

At 24 years 224 days, completed 4,000 runs - the youngest to do so in Tests, taking eight years and 18 days. Scoring 148 & 13 against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, he also completed 1,000 runs in a calendar year for the first time - 1000 at an average of 62.50, including four centuries, in 12 Tests.

January 2, 1998

After a fifteen-month tenure, Sachin was sacked from the captaincy during which period India won three out of 17 Tests.

January 14, 1998

Completed 6,000 runs in ODIs- 170 innings in 176 matches

March 6-10, 1998

Posted an unbeaten 155 against Australia at Chepauk, Chennai, a chanceless knock - his 15th hundred in 59 Tests.

April 1, 1998

Adjudged the Man of the Match for his bowling performance. In response to India's 309 for five at Nehru Stdium, Kochi, the Australians were comfortably placed at 203 for 3 in the 32nd over and looked set to chase 310 but Tendulkar changed the complexion of the game with his first five-wicket haul (5/32) in ODIs - dismissing five main batsmen - Steve Waugh, Darren Lehman, Michel Bevan, Tom Moody and Damien Martyn.

April 7, 1998

Hit seven sixes (the most in an innings by him) in his excellent knock of 100 off 89 balls against Australia at Kanpur.

July 7, 1998

Completed 7,000 runs in ODIs - 189 innings, 196 Matches (vs.S.Lanka at Colombo, RPS).

September 26, 1998

Posted an unbeaten 127 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo, overtaking Desmond Haynes' record of 17 centuries in ODIs.

October 28, 1998

Produced his career-best all-round performance - posted 141 and claimed 4 for 38 to knock Australia out of the inaugural ICC Champions Trophy in Bangladesh.

November 13, 1998

Registered an unbeaten 124 off 92 balls against Zimbabwe, taking his runs' tally for the year to 1894 with his ninth century - both records in a calendar year.

February 16-20, 1999

Completed his 5,000 runs in 67 Tests (103 innings) in the Kolkata Test against Pakistan, taking nine years 93 days.

May 23, 1999

After attending his father's funeral, he came back, posted an unbeaten 140 against Kenya at Bristol in the 1999 World Cup. Dedicated the hundred to his father.

June 8, 1999

Completed 8,000 runs in ODIs - 210 innings, 217 Matches (vs.Pakistan at Manchester)

July 28, 1999

Reappointed Indian skipper after India, under Mohammad Azharuddin, failed to reach the semifinals of the World Cup in England.

October 29-November 2, 1999

Posted his first double hundred at international level - 217 against New Zealand at Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad.

November 8, 1999

Registered the highest individual score by an Indian in ODIs - an unbeaten 186 off 150 balls against New Zealand at Hyderabad.

December 10-14, 1999

Sachin was adjudged lbw when he was hit on the shoulder ducking a short-pitched ball that bounced lower than expected - vs. Australia at Adelaide.

March 2-6, 2000

Completed 6,000 runs in 76 Tests (120 innings), taking 10 years 108 days to reach the milestone.

March 19, 2000

Completed 9,000 runs in ODIs -235 innings in 242 Matches.

March 31, 2001

Became the first player to aggregate 10,000 runs in one-day cricket during the course of his 139 against Australia at Indore, taking 259 innings in 266 matches to achieve the target.

November 3-6, 2001

Completed 7,000 runs in 85 Tests (136 innings) taking 11 years 353 days.

November 19, 2001

Cautioned and fined by match referee Mike Denness for trying to "change the condition of the ball" during the Port Elizabeth Test against South Africa. The resulting outcry in India and the impasse between the BCCI and the ICC led the latter to review the jurisdiction of match referees.

December 21, 2001

Tied down by the over-the-stumps tactics of Ashley Giles in Bangalore and was stumped for the first time in his Test career.

Completed 11000 runs in ODIs -276 innings in 284 Matches.

May 18-22, 2002

Set a record for the fastest 8,000 runs in Tests taking 154 innings (96 Tests).

August 22-23, 2002

Overtook Sir Donald Bradman's tally of 29 Test centuries, missing double-century by seven runs at Leeds but India won by an innings and 46 runs.

September 5-9, 2002

Became the youngest player ever to play 100 Tests, making 54 in a drawn game at The Oval. Apart from three Tests due to injury, he has not missed any since his debut, and has played 84 on the trot.

February-March, 2003

Aggregated 673 runs (ave. 61.18) in the World Cup in South Africa, enabling India into the finals. His 98 against Pakistan is one of his best innings ever. Even though Australia were the champions, he was named the Player of the Series.

March 1, 2003

Completed 12000 runs in ODIs -300 innings in 309 matches.

January 2-4, 2004

Posted a hundred without a cover-drive, scoring an unbeaten 241 at Sydney.During the Test, he became the fourth batsman to aggregate 9,000 runs in Tests, taking 111 Tests (179 innings)

March 16, 2004

Completed 13000 runs in ODIs - 321 innings in 330 matches

August, 2004

Tennis elbow surfaced during the Videocon Cup in Holland. Missed the Champions Trophy in England followed by the first two home Tests against Australia.

March 16, 2005

Became the fifth batsman to aggregate 10,000 Test runs during the course of his 52 against Pakistan in Kolkata. India won the match by 195 runs. Sachin was playing in his 122nd Test (195 innings), taking 15 years 121 days.

May, 2005

Undergone surgery for the tennis elbow, missing a triangular series in Sri Lanka, a tour to Zimbabwe, and the Super Series in Australia.

October 24, 2005

Made an excellent return to international cricket, with a 93 off 96 balls against Sri Lanka, in India's total of 350 for 6 at Nagpur.

December 10, 2005

While posting 109 off 196 balls against Sri Lanka at Feroz shah Kotla, New Delhi, he became the highest centurion in Test cricket, overtaking Sunil Gavaskar's tally of 34.

Completed 14000 runs in ODIs - 350 innings in 359 matches

March 2006

Visited England for a surgery on his right shoulder. Missed the one-dayers against England and the tour to West Indies.

September 14, 2006

Staged a stunning comeback, with 141 not out off 148 balls against West Indies in the DLF Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

May, 2007

Rested for the first time in his career for the three-ODI series in Bangladesh but posted two hundreds in the two following Tests.

June 29, 2007

Completed 15000 runs in ODIs - 377 innings in 387 matches

July 27-31, 2007

Completed 11,000 runs in the Nottingham Test (139 Tests, 223 innings), taking 17 years 254 days.

October 11, 2007

Became the second player after Sanath Jayasuriya to play 400 ODIs.

Feb 5, 2008

Completed 16000 runs in ODIs -399 innings in 409 matches

March 2, 2008

Posted his first ODI hundred (at SCG) in Australia, in first of the CB Series final - 117 not out off 120 balls.

October 17, 2008

At 2.31 pm on a hot Mohali Friday, Tendulkar steered debutant Peter Siddle towards the third-man boundary for three runs to surpass Brian Lara's record for most Test runs.

October 17-21, 2008

Became the first batsman to complete 12,000 Test runs (152 Tests), taking 18 yers 337 days for the milestone.

November 5, 2009

Completed 17000 runs in ODIs - 424 innings in 435 Matches.
