
Prasanna moves into the record books
Prasanna Jayawardene, with his unbeaten 154 off 314 balls recorded the best ever knock by a visiting wicketkeeper on Indian soil.

This was also Prasanna's career best Test innings.
Prior to this, West Indian Sir Clyde Walcott was the only wicketkeeper to register an innings of 150 or more against India in India - 152 in the 1948-49 Delhi Test.
New Zealand's Ian Smith holds a record for the highest individual score by a wicketkeeper against India - 173 off 136 balls at Auckland in February 1990. Smith's innings is also the highest by a number nine batsman in Tests. Jayawardene's knock is now the second highest by a wicketkeeper against India.

Prasanna Jayawardene now has two centuries to his credit, his first being 120 not out against Bangladesh at Colombo, SSC in June 2007.
Thanks to his two unbeaten hundreds, Prasanna Jayawardene's batting average has touched 30 for the first time - 901 in 28 matches at an average of 30.03.

Prasanna, with his career-best effort, has ensured the only world record partnership on Indian soil - 351 for the sixth wicket with Mahela against India at Ahmedabad in November 2009.
