No counter sale of tickets at Eden
Cricket buffs would be in for disappointment for the India-Sri Lanka fourth one-dayer on December 24 at the Eden Gardens.
The tickets would not be sold from counters since the capacity of the stadium has been reduced to 53 per cent because of renovation.
With almost half of the galleries brought down because of renovation to meet the Cricket World Cup 2011 deadline, the 83,635 seat capacity has come down to 44,703.
Tickets for 44,703 seats will be distributed to members and affiliated units.
This was proposed at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) stadium committee meeting attended by president Jagmohan Dalmiya on Saturday.
A final decision on the proposal would be taken at the CAB's working committee meeting on November 26.
"There will not be any counter sale of tickets. From the available seats, 32,736 will be distributed to CAB members. The remaining will be distributed to the first and second division clubs, university and district associations," CAB joint secretary Biswarup Dey said.
Stating that in the normal course 7,000 tickets were available for counter sales, he said "But this time, we have to do away with it as four blocks (B, C, K and L) will remain closed for renovation work."
Eden last hosted an ODI on February 8, 2007.
