By Rajesh Kumar

- Umar Akmal (129) posted a century on his Test debut.  He is the eleventh Pakistani batsman to accomplish the feat on his Test debut, joining Khalid Ibadulla, Javed Miandad, Salim Malik, Mohammad Wasim, Ali Naqvi, Azhar Mahmood, Younis Khan, Taufeeq Omar, Yasir Hameed and Fawad Alam.

- Umar is now the third Pakistani player to register a century on his Test debut against New Zealand - the first two being Javed Miandad (163 & 25 not out at Lahore, 1976-77) and Mohammad Wasim (0 & 109 not out at Lahore in 1996-97).
