Afridi confident of Pak's comeback
Shahid Afridi is confident of Pakistan's strong comeback in the forthcoming ODIs as well as Twenty20 matches Down Under.
Pakistan might be in shatters after having already lost the ongoing Test series against Australia, but flamboyant all-rounder is confident of the team's comeback.
Afridi, who is in Australia playing for South Australia in the domestic Big Bash Twenty20 torunament, will be skipper Mohammad Yousuf's deputy in the Pakistan ODI squad and will lead the side in Twenty20 games.
"Unfair to expect immediate results"
Afridi told the Pakistani media in Australia that he was confident of a reversal in fortunes in the ODI series, which gets underway on January 22 in Brisbane.
"We have the firepower to comeback in the ODI series despite the Test series defeat," he said.
The 29-year-old right-hander blamed inexperience responsible for Pakistan's below-par showing in the Test series but made it clear that Yousuf's men are a formidable unit in limited-overs cricket.
"The problem is that in this (Test) team most of them are one-day players. There is no doubt in my mind that we are a very good one-day team. I'm confident that we will do much better in the ODIs and the Twenty20 game," Afridi said.
Afridi, however, refrained from making any predictions for the series but said Pakistan has the potential of winning the ODI rubber.

"I won't say that we are going to win the one-day series but our team definitely has the potential to do that. We will definitely be playing good cricket in the series," he said.
He, however, was of the view that for that to happen senior members of the team, including himself will have to deliver.
Pakistan have recalled former captain Younus Khan for the ODI series and retained both wicketkeepers -- Kamran Akmal and Sarfraz Ahmed -- in the big squad of 17 players.
Afridi said senior players would have to lead by example in the ODI series.
"It is just vital. You can't beat them (Australia) without senior players contribution."
Afridi will be missing the Big Bash final as he will join the Pakistan squad in Brisbane on January 19 ahead of the series opener there on January 22. But he said turning out for the country is always his top most priority.
"I mean for me playing for Pakistan is the ultimate thing and I hope to play my due role in the one-day series," Afridi said.
