His jaw broken by a Shahadat Hossain bouncer on Monday, Rahul Dravid will not take further part in the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh.

He is also be a doubtful starter for next month's Test series against South Africa.

Indian team manager Arshad Ayub told reporters that the injury Dravid sustained was not a serious one and his condition is stable now.

Ayub read out a written statement and said a decision on Dravid's going back home will be taken after consulting the doctors at the Square Hospital on Tuesday.

"Dravid was hit by a ball on the left side of his face during batting today. He was taken for investigation to a hospital. A small fracture on one of the bones on the face was detected. There was no sign of head injury. His condition is stable and will remain at the hospital today," he said at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel where the team stays.

"He is unlikely to take part in the series," he added.

Asked whether Dravid will go back home after his discharge tomorrow, Ayub said, "We will speak to the doctors tomorrow and only after that we will be able to say anything further."

Ayub also said he won't be able to say how long it will take for Dravid to recover.

"Only the doctors will be able to tell that," he said.

Batting on 111, Dravid tried to duck a Shahadat Hossain low bouncer that hit him on the ear guard of the helmet. The former India captain soon left the field and was taken to the Square Hospital in Dhaka, where he is under observation at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a precautionary measure.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Mustafa Kamal, who visited Dravid at the hospital, said the player had suffered two light fracture.

"Rahul has two light fractures (on his jaw) and has been kept under observation. He may be released tomorrow or day after," Kamal said.

"He can have light food. Doctors said he can go back home after being discharged from the hospital. It is upto him and the Indian board to decide on going back home," he said.

The hurriedly-arranged two-Test series between India and South Africa will start on February 6 in Nagpur and Dravid is likely to be out of action.

The second match of the series is slated to begin from February 14 in Kolkata, followed by a three-match ODI series.

Regarding Yuvraj Singh, who suffered a sprain on his left wrist, Ayub said doctor's investigation report is yet to come.

"Yuvraj had a sprain on left wrist while fielding (yesterday). He has been taken for investigation to a hospital today. I will be able to tell after the report is available tomorrow," he said.
