"Yawar need not be on the committee"
Pakistan team manager Abdul Raquib has objected to the presence of his predecessor in the inquiry committee.
According to well-placed sources, Raquib, who accompanied the team to NZ and Australia, has told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief operating officer Wasim Bari, who heads the inquiry committee, that his predecessor Yawar Saeed should not be on the committee.
Raquib has been summoned for the committee's hearing tomorrow and Saturday alongwith coach Intikhab Alam, captain, Muhammad Yousuf and all-rounder Shahid Afridi.
"Raquib has told Bari that it was unfair to have Yawar on the committee as he was openly accused by former captain Younus Khan and some other players of encouraging groupings within the team last year," one source told PTI.
"Raquib has rightly pointed out that Yawar was now a controversial figure after the way he had to leave the managership after the Champions Trophy," the source said.
"It is no secret that Yawar is close to some players and Raquib has doubts he would be fair in his dealings while evaluating the reports of the coach, captain or manager on the Australian tour," the source said.
More controversy is likely to hit the committee as its newest member Wasim Akram has reportedly told friends that he was not asked for his views before the board announced him as replacement for Haroon Rasheed in the panel.
