Malik wants to leave issues behind
Shoaib Malik insists he has put his tensions with Yousuf behind him as he focuses his attention on T20 clashes with England.
Malik has been installed as captain as Shahid Afridi is banned for Friday's opening clash in Dubai following his bizarre ball-biting escapades in Australia.
He is taking charge of a team with more than one internal issue to deal with, though.
Coach Intikhab Alam has not travelled to the UAE with the side, having instead being summoned by an internal committee to explain the team's routing at the hands of Australia, while relations between Malik and Yousuf - who captained down under - have been strained to say the least.
But with their defence of the World Twenty20 crown just around the corner and only these matches with England to prepare, Malik is sure the team are concentrating on on-field matters.
"That (issue with Yousuf) is all history, I've answered all these questions," said Malik.
"I went to the six-member committee and gave them what I had to say and it is history now. I just want to concentrate on my cricket and that is it.
"When you lose these things come up but I'm sure that you learn from your mistakes," said Malik.
"We have had quite a few team meetings, we've talked about everything and what we did in Australia. We learn from these mistakes.
"As cricketers, we didn't play well on the Australia tour. But whatever happened is for the betterment of Pakistan cricket. I'm sure it will help the team and the players. It's history now and we are looking forward to these two matches.
"It's an opportunity to utilise the time before the World Twenty20. We have two matches against England and they are a good side.
"We have in our team some youngsters who are very talented and they are getting their opportunity.
"I'm hoping and I'm sure they will do well."
Team manager Yawar Saeed, overseeing team affairs in Intikhab's absence, is hoping Afridi's most recent indiscretions can be quickly forgotten about.
He said: "Shahid Afridi...eating a ball? Let's say it. It was a very unfortunate thing but it's had a hearing with the ICC and he's been given a ban for two matches.
"As far as we are concerned, we would like to make it history."
