Gambhir safe after Morkel hit

Scans done on Gautam Gambhir revealed that the batsman has not sustained any damage on his left arm.

The Indian opener was taken to a hospital on Monday after being hit by a Morne Morkel delivery but

While batting on 11 on the second day of the second Test against South Africa, Gambhir was hit by a ball which rose from short of length just outside the off-stump and came in.

Gambhir was seen in pain and he signalled to the dressing room for aid even though he continued playing before running himself out at 25.

He was rushed to the EKO X-ray and Imaging Institute near Ravindra Sadan.

"There was some bruise in his arm as we took him for an x-ray. It was just a precautionary measure and there was nothing serious," the local India manager said.
