"We have reserves to replace players"

"We have reserves to replace players"

We have a good bench strength to replace the injured players, BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said on Tuesday.

With India playing continuous cricket, injuries are bound to happen and Srinivasan assured that India have a good bench strength.

Srinivasan statement came after India suffered another injury setback on Tuesday with opener Gautam Gambhir ruled out of the first two ODIs against South Africa due to a groin injury.

"We are playing a lot of cricket, so injuries will be there. But we have plenty of good reserve players," Srinivasan said at the Eden Gardens on the sidelines of the ongoing second and final Test against South Africa.

India are already missing the services of Rahul Dravid (jaw fracture), Yuvraj Singh (left wrist) and Rohit Sharma (ankle) in the series and Gambhir is the latest to join the injury list.

The BCCI secretary earlier in the day met the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

"It was a courtesy meeting. I enjoyed talking to him," he said.

According to CAB sources, Dalmiya is said to have discussed about Rs 50 crore pending funds from the BCCI.

"He made a request to release the pending funds to expedite the Eden Gardens renovation work for the 2011 World Cup. It was really a very cordial meeting," said the source.
