Crowe's formula to revive Test cricket
A points-based system proposal plan, devised by former New Zealand skipper Martin Crowe is all set to modernise Test cricket.
Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland feels that his ICC counterparts will take their first steps towards this.
"A Test championship is a good initiative and brings a climax and a big global event around Test cricket. All the ICC global events forever and a day have been for the shorter forms of the game …," Sutherland said.
Under the new system, the team gets a point for each win and large victories would fetch a bonus point too and the two best nations will play a grand final possibly over six days or, even until there is a result.
Sutherland said the final could be played at a neutral venue, and if there was only room for one match, it could be a timeless Test or run over six days to maximise chances of a result.
However, it is to see whether that ICC will re-figure the current playing norms to set in the new proposal.
