In a fresh trouble for Lalit Modi, the Income Tax department have initiated a probe into his alleged links to an aircraft purchase.

Lalit Modi is under fire from the IT officials who are also probing his role in an alleged payoff to Mauritius based World Sports Group.

Meanwhile, Modi has been avoiding probe by not visiting India. However, sources said that his secretary had been quizzed by officials regarding a payment of 80 crore for the aircraft purchase.

Modi is being investigated by the IT department after they found a link to the 425 crore felicitation fee paid to World Sports Group by Multi Screen Media for IPL media rights.

Modi lost his job after he was accused of large scale financial irregularities in the IPL bids.
