Television personality and sports lover, Lee Furlong, has been named as CA’s new female ambassador ahead of the Ashes Series.

Furlong, a former Fox Sports and Fox 8 presenter and wife of cricketing star, Shane Watson, will join Cricket Australia as a special guest reporter on CATV, host key events across the summer and post regular blogs with the aim of taking the sport to women.

With extensive knowledge and a genuine passion for cricket, Cricket Australian CEO, James Sutherland, says Furlong is a fantastic ambassador for the sport.

“Lee’s genuine passion for cricket is contagious. Her knowledge on the game and expert presentation skills will be a powerful combination in performing this role. I'm sure that our growing base of female fans will enjoy Lee's various contributions. We’re really looking forward to having Lee involved across the game this summer - she is a great signing for us.”

Furlong says she hopes her role with Cricket Australia will help more women grow to love the sport.

“For me, summer is synonymous with cricket and I hope my involvement will help more women come to love the game. Cricket Australia has developed an exciting calendar of social events around this year's Vodafone Ashes Series. I’m particularly looking forward the ‘pink’ Test in Sydney and the Melbourne High Tea – it’s always great to get amongst it whilst supporting a great cause in the McGrath Foundation.”
