BCCI for delayed Champs Trophy
The BCCI may request the ICC to postpone the Champions Trophy if the security situation in Pakistan is not safe.
The ICC has asked Sri Lanka to be on stand by in case the world governing body finds the security situation in Pakistan to be of serious concern by the time the tournament starts.
However, the island nation has its own security concerns and consequently South Africa has been proposed as the second back up.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the powerful Indian cricket board has reprtedly insisted that the ICC should reschedule the matches in Pakistan rather than relocating them abroad if the situation is considered unsafe for the September tournament.
Star cricketers from Australia, New Zealand and England have talked of boycotting the tournament citing security fears.
Cricket Australia's (CA) security consultant, Reg Dickason, visited Pakistan to inspect the security systems during the ongoing STAR Cricket Asia Cup. The ICC had dispatched a four-man security delegation to Pakistan last week.
