MSD vows to sort out Mendis

Birthday boy Mahendra Singh Dhoni has vowed to demolish Ajantha Mendis in the upcoming bilateral series in the emerald island.

Team India ODI skipper, who turns 27 on Monday, said that the experienced Test batting line up was good enough to sort out Mendis. Dhoni said he did not consider the spinner, who single-handedly wreaked havoc on the Indian batting in the final of the STAR Cricket Asia Cup, as a major threat for the upcoming series in Sri Lanka.

"He is a difficult bowler and the batsmen must prepare themselves. We have experienced players in the Test side and they will get a chance to see a few more video recordings and preview of him," Dhoni said.

According to MSD, the one advantage Team India will have in the upcoming series is that they are first playing the Test series, which would work in their favour since the pressure to score off Mendis won't be the same as it is in the case of the one-dayers.

He said that to play Mendis effectively one needed to spend time on the wicket and get used to his guile with the ball.

"One of the good things are we will be playing Test matches first in Sri Lanka. So the burden of scoring off him will not be there and the players can take their time and get used to him," said Dhoni.

Mendis picked up six wickets in the Asia Cup final on Sunday and destroyed the famed Indian batting, which failed to cope with the guiles of the unconventional spinner.
