Lanka resolve contract row

Sri Lanka's tour of India is set to go ahead as planned after the contracts row between the players and the Board was resolved.

Sri Lanka players had not been paid since February after a dispute arose over the terms of their new contracts which should have been signed by March 31.

But following a meeting between representatives of Sri Lanka's Cricketers Association and officials of Sri Lanka Cricket's interim committee (SLC) the dispute over salaries was resolved.

"Everything was resolved amicably and the discussion was very cordial," Sri Lanka Cricketers Association (SLCA) Secretary Graeme Labrooy told the Daily Mirror. "The players will sign their contracts next week."

The dispute had threatened to disrupt Sri Lanka's Test and one-day series against India which is scheduled to start with a tour match on July 18.

According to the settlement, there is no increase in salary for senior players, but junior players have received a 15% pay rise.

Other conditions such as a ban on contributing to media, a ban on allowing wives and girlfriends on tour and a penalty of half of their match fee should the team lost a match were withdrawn by the SLC.

Players have agreed to play 75% of the domestic competition, while contributions to the media will be subject to controls by SLC.
