A look at the stats highlights of Day One's play of the first Test between SA and England at Lord's.
- Kevin Pietersen's 13th Test century is his first against South Africa on debut.
- Pietersen has recorded 10 Test centuries in England and three away from home. His batting average at home is 60.02 - 2281 runs in 40 innings. Away from home, his average is just 40.37 - 1292 in 34 innings.
- Pietersen's 104 not out is his second successive century. In his previous innings against New Zealand at Nottingham last month, he had made 115.
- Pietersen is now the eighth English batsman to post a hundred against South Africa in his debut innings.
- Ian Bell's 75 not out is his first fifty on debut against South Africa - his 19th in Test cricket.
- The unbroken 192-run stand between Pietersen and Bell is England's second best for the fourth wicket against South Africa, next only to the 197 between Wally Hammond and Leslie Ames at Cape Town in 1938-39.
- The 114-run stand between Strauss and Cook is England's second century partnership for the first wicket against South Africa at Lord's - Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe had put on 268 for the opening wicket at Lord's in June 1924.
- Cook's 11th Test fifty is his first against South Africa on debut.
