ICC objects to BCCI event

The ICC has asked member nations not to participate in the BCCI organised Champions League, which is scheduled later this year.

ICC's Media Manager Brian Murgatroyd has confirmed the world governing body's stand: "We have reminded them of the Members of Participation Agreement. No international event can be held in such close proximity to an ICC competition."

An Indian news channel has confirmed that the ICC have sent a communique to all its member boards objecting to the BCCI's inter-club tournament's proximity to the ICC Champions Trophy.

The ICC's objection comes close on the heels of of Wednesday's July 30 crucial meeting at Mumbai, between BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa officials to finalise the details of the cash rich Champions League.

The ICC are not too happy with the scheduling of the League, immediately a day after the Champions Trophy - saying it will be a breach of the terms and conditions agreed to, by all member nations.

According to ICC rules, no international cicket event can take place within seven days of any ICC tournament.

Meanwhile, the BCCI refused to confirm that they have received a communication from the ICC on the scheduling of the Champions League as yet.
