NZ vs IRE: Stats highlights

A look at the statistical highlights of the ODI played between New Zealand and Ireland at Aberdeen on Tuesday.

- New Zealand's 290-run triumph is the biggest victory margin in ODIs, eclipsing India's 257-run against Bermuda at Port of Spain on March 19, 2007.

- New Zealand (402/2) posted their highest innings total in ODIs, bettering their previous highest of 397 for five against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on August 24, 2005.

- New Zealand's aforesaid total is the sixth highest in the history of ODIs. Of the six totals of 400-plus, two have been recorded by South Africa and one each by Sri Lanka, India, Australia and New Zealand.

- 18 sixes were recorded in New Zealand's innings, equalling a world record, previously held by South Africa vs Netherlands at Basseterre on 16.3.2007 and India vs. Bermuda at Port of Spain on 19.3.2007.

- James Marshall recorded his career-best score - his maiden century (161 off 141 balls). His previous highest was 50 against Sri Lanka at Queenstown on December 31,2006.

- Brendon McCullum (166 off 135 balls) registered his maiden hundred, eclipsing his previous highest of 96 against Australia at Adelaide on December 14, 2007.

- McCullum's innings contained eleven fours and ten sixes. His tally of ten sixes is a record by a New Zealander in ODIs, bettering Lou Vincent's 9 sixes during his innings of 172 off 120 balls against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on August 24, 2005

- Marshall and McCullum put on 266 runs for the first wicket, the second best in ODIs, next only to the 286 between Upul Tharanga and Sanath Jayasuriya for Sri Lanka against England at Leeds on July 1, 2006.

- The aforesaid stand is New Zealand's highest for any wicket in ODIs and only their second partnership of 200-plus.

- For the first time in the history of ODIs, two opening batsmen have recorded scores of 150-plus in the same innings.

- The first instance of two New Zealand openers posting hundreds in the same innings is the 19th instance in ODIs.

- New Zealand's previous best for the first wicket was 204 between Lou Vincent and Stephen Fleming against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on August 24, 2005.

- Gareth Hopkins, with five dismissals in Ireland's innings, registered his career-best performance in ODIs.

- Hopkins is the third wicketkeeper from New Zealand to effect 5 dismissals in an innings, joining Adam Parore and McCullum (three times).

- Peter Connell (9-0-95-0) produced the worst bowling performance by a bowler from Ireland - the said figures are the worst by any bowler on debut in ODIs.
