Sangakkara puts hosts in charge
Kumar Sangakkara's patient unbeaten century gave Sri Lanka the edge over India at stumps on day two of the series-deciding third Test in Colombo.
When bad light ended the day prematurely, Sangakkara had progressed to 107, with wicketkeeper Prasanna Jayawardene on one - helping Sri Lanka build a two-run lead on 251 for six.
India's hopes of claiming victory, and a first series win in Sri Lanka since 1993, were not aided by injuries to three players - VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Ishant Sharma - during the course of the day.
Laxman failed to appear after rolling his ankle during the morning's warm-up, while fellow middle-order batsman Sachin Tendulkar was forced from the field in the afternoon session with an elbow injury after spilling a catch.
In the evening session, young paceman Sharma fell during his follow-through and joined his team-mates in the pavilion with what appeared to be a thigh injury.
But the day belonged to Sangakkara, who brought up his 17th Test ton from 212 balls.
