Somerset in good shape

Somerset will have no injury concerns when they start their bid to go top of LV County Championship Division One on Tuesday.

The south-west county currently sit third in the table but are just three points behind leaders Nottinghamshire ahead of their clash with lowly Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.

Batsman Wes Durston, leg-spinner Michael Munday and seamer Steffan Jones have all been added to the squad, although coach Andy Hurry is expected to name an unchanged side from the one that drew with Surrey at Taunton last week.

Hampshire have named England Under-19 spinner Liam Dawson - who has played just one first-class match this summer - in their party as seamer Chris Tremlett is on international duty with the one-day squad.

Third-placed Northamptonshire, on the contrary, welcome back an England star in Monty Panesar as they look to reel in the leaders in Division Two.

Panesar will bolster his side's spinning options given Nicky Boje's absence due to injury when they travel to face rock-bottom Gloucestershire.

Batsman Rob White is also unavailable due to injury, handing batsman Ben Howgego his first call-up to the first XI, so Stephen Peters will take over as captain.

Gloucestershire are expected to name the same side that drew with Derbyshire last week as they seek a first Championship victory of the season.
