Pak veterans keen to host Indians
The National Veterans Association in Pakistan is keen to host India for a cricket series in September-October this year.
Chairman of Pakistan Veterans cricket association (PVCA), Fawad Ejaz said a tour by the Indian veterans was still on."To be honest the tour is still on but we are waiting for a final response from the Indian side. We have to see what their response is," Fawad said.
The Indian veterans body is headed by former Indian Test opener, Chetan Chauhan, also a parliamentarian.
Fawad said the series between the Pakistan and Indian veteran teams had been postponed twice since early 2008 for different reasons although the last time India toured Pakistan it was a great success financially and otherwise for the PVCA.
"Twice we have postponed this tour which is now rescheduled for September-October this year. We are hoping that conditions will improve to the extent to have the series but it also depends on getting government clearance for the series as security is now a big issue," he said.
The Indian government didn't give permission to the Indian Cricket Board to tour Pakistan for a Test series in January-February 2009 after the fallout in relations between the two countries following the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
