Warne loses in Poker Series

Australian spin great Shane Warne could not advance beyond the third round of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.

His legendary wiles and guiles notwithstanding, Warne would have been richer by $ 10 million had he reached the final of the event scheduled on Wednesday.

"... Shane Warne had a day on the felt that he'd rather forget," said a report in the a poker website.

"Warne flopped a flush only to see his opponent improve his set to a full house on the river, and shortly after ran his pocket eights into an opponent's pocket aces to collapse quicker than the English batting order," it said.

He had left the event to take part in a Twenty20 charity match in London where his team Rajasthan Royals crushed Middlesex and is now set to return to England for commentary assignments for the ongoing Ashes series.
