Brett Lee should quit Tests to reduce pressure on his weak elbow and concentrate on ODIs, feels former pacer Rodney Hogg.

Lee is not yet ready to walk into the Test sunset despite repeated injuries but Hogg feels by doing so he can prolong his career in the shorter formats of the game.

"Brett Lee should just retire from Test cricket. He's had a fabulous Test career, but he should focus on one-day cricket and Twenty20," said Hogg.

"The amount of pressure that's on his elbow means he can't come back and bowl in a five-day game. Brett's body looks like it's going to pack it in with the longer form of the game, so he should just retire from the Test arena," he added.

Hogg, who took 123 wickets from 38 Tests between 1978 to 1984, gave examples of former captain Steve Waugh and spin champion Shane Warne who reduced playing one format of the game to prolong their career in another.

"There's been examples of guys who stood down from one form of the game to prolong their careers. Steve Waugh and Shane Warne played less one-day cricket to extend their Test careers," he was quoted as saying in the 'Herald Sun'.

"We shouldn't wait for Brett to tell us, Cricket Australia should be telling him."

The 33-year-old Lee has played 76 Tests, taking 310 wickets apart from featuring in 186 ODIs, bagging 324 wickets so far.
