BCCI extends Sahara contract

The BCCI has decided to extend Sahara's contract as sponsor of the Indian cricket team for another six months till June 2010.

The BCCI marketing committee, which met on Wednesday took the call to stick with Sahara.

Sahara was initially contract to sponsor the team till December 31 this year, which was extended by three months earlier.

While companies seemed interseted to sponsor MS Dhoni's team, there have been no real bidders becaise of the stiff price the BCCI is asking for.

Sahara had inked a four-year-deal in 2006 for Rs 400 crores.

However, the BCCI is now asking companies to exceed that and pay a price of somewhere around $ 35 million (about Rs 162 crore) annually.
