Sachin's daughter to run for charity

Sachin Tendulkar's daughter Sara is all set to run for charity in the 7th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on Sunday.

"Keep cool and run hard", is the tip Tendulkar has given to his daughter Sara.

When the master batsman appears for India in the opening Test against Bangladesh starting at Chittagong on Sunday, his daughter would be taking part in the Dream Run to raise funds for "Apnalaya", the NGO for challenged children with which Tendulkar is deeply involved.

"I think I will enjoy to be part of the Apnalaya team in the Dream Run. I wanted to take part for a long time but this is the first year that I am old enough to take part," Sara said ahead of the event in which she will be among 38,000-odd runners.

Asked how has she prepared for the race, she said, "I play tennis thrice a week and do some fitness training at a club. I don't have much time for Marathon practice with so many other school activities."

Sara said she already raised a lot of money for Apnalaya.

"I have raised more than Rs 4 lakhs so far. I asked my family, my friends' parents and my parents' friends for the money. My father also supported me," she said.

"I have always been interested in the work done by Apnalaya, and have gone with my (maternal) granny (Annabel)for some programmes. I ask her about the work, particularly I like to hear how they are helping challenged children. We are raising funds for the Challenged Project through the Marathon," she added.
