No captaincy dreams: Misbah

Misbah ul Haq has made it clear that he does not want to become the Pakistan captain and is happy as the deputy.

Misbah, who helped Pakistan progress to the final of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa, said he just wants to concentrate on his game and is not keen to shoulder extra burden.

"Obviously leadership brings extra load of responsibility and I am enjoying my present status of vice-captain in the team," Misbah told APP.

With questions being raised regarding the captaincy of Shoaib Malik, Misbah was tipped to be one of the contenders for the high-profile job along with Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi, but the stylish batsman said he is just too happy with his position in the team.

"I know it is a great honour to be the captain of the team but I feel contended the way I am," he said.

With Misbah turning it down, it is now a two-horse race between Younis and Shahid Afridi for the captain's post.
