Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram says current skipper Shoiab Malik should be given more time to prove himself.

Akram was reacting to vice captain Misbah-ul-Haq's comment earlier this week that he will be willing to consider the job of leading the team if it was offered to him.

Akram told Mobile ESPN that though Misbah was a "strong candidate" for the job, "he should not have given such comments".

"The PCB does not have a chairman and it shows that there is no unity in the Pakistan team. They do not want the captain to stay. Misbah is the right choice for captaincy, but Malik should be given some more time," said the legendary pacer.
