Judgment on Akhtar petition reserved
The Lahore High Court Friday reserved its judgement on writ petitions filed by fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and PCB regarding a ban and fine imposed on the controversial pacer.
After both the parties concluded their arguments today, the court said it would hold a hearing on November 17 to cross examine the two parties and then deliver its judgement.
While Akhtar has challenged a 18-month ban and seven million rupees fine imposed on him by a PCB-appointed appellate tribunal, the PCB has asked the court to give clear directives if the fast bowler can continue to play without paying the fine first.
The Board had relaxed its stance and allowed Akhtar to play for Pakistan and in Pakistan after the court had suspended the ban on the fast bowler few months back.
The PCB had initially banned Akhtar for five years for several code of conduct violations in March.
He then appealed against the ban to a PCB-appointed appellate tribunal headed by a retired High Court judge and the tribunal reduced the ban to 18-months but imposed the seven million rupees fine which Akhtar has not paid yet.
