Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif continues to be under detention in Dubai pending reports of his urine and other tests.

Asif, who was returning to Pakistan from Mumbai where he had turned out for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League, was detained early on Sunday after a small quantity of powder was found in his wallet by United Arab Emirates customs officials.

Pakistan Cricket Board media manager Raza Rashid told PA Sport that the PCB was still awaiting results of a urine test, and said: "We should get those results anytime now. The UAE authorities will decide whether to press charges or to release Asif only after the results of the tests are known."

Meanwhile, in another setback for Asif, the speedster was dropped from the Pakistan squad for the one-day tri-series in Bangladesh also involving India.

Pakistan are scheduled to play Bangladesh in the opener in Mirpur on June 8.

"The selectors have just confirmed that Asif has indeed been dropped," Rashid said.

"They thought it best to leave him out of the team since there isn't enough time for him to process a visa and to complete other formalities. Sohail Khan will take his place."

Khan had been named on the reserve list by selectors on Monday.

The 24-year-old right-hand medium fast bowler was among several youngsters who were blooded in the recent series against Bangladesh.

Sohail has shown plenty of promise and has picked up four wickets in the three one-dayers he has played so far.
