Asif decision in 48 hours
A decision on Mohammed Asif is set be made in the next 48 hours after his case was heard in Dubai on Sunday.
Asif has been in detention in Dubai since last Sunday on suspicion of carrying drugs after a small quantity of a powder was found on his possession by authorities at the Dubai International Airport.The 25-year-old appeared before a United Arab Emirates public prosecutor on Thursday where his statement was recorded.
Following Sunday's final hearing PCB media director, Mansoor Suhail, revealed a decision on Asif's fate could be made as early as Sunday afternoon.
"The prosecutor has completed his interrogation of the witnesses," he said.
"He has made out a report to the attorney general who will decide on further action. A decision would be made in the next 48 hours."
Suhail could not confirm if charges had been framed against the paceman at Sunday's hearing.
The PCB had rushed Nadeem Akhtar, director of human resources, to Dubai to help release Asif. They had also appointed leading law firm Angel and Afridi to handle the case.
