Lawson thinking of Asif

Pakistan are still thinking of Mohammad Asif despite an ODI tri-series win over India and Bangladesh, says coach Geoff Lawson.

The 25-year-old has been in detention since June 1 on suspicion of carrying drugs after a small quantity of a powder was found in his possession by authorities at Dubai International Airport.

Lawson hopes he can make a quick return with the squad for the Asia Cup set to be announced on Wednesday.

"We are praying and hoping for his early release and I would love to see Asif back in the side," Lawson said.

"Everyone in the team has been talking about him not only as a cricketer but also as a person as well."

Asif's case is being considered by the Dubai Attorney General with a decision on whether he will be charged or released expected in the next 10 days.
