Ashraf: Asif return priority

Naseem Ashraf said the PCB was trying hard to ensure the return of Mohammad Asif, detained in Dubai.

However, he also clarified that the PCB would not tolerate indiscipline from players.

Ashraf was effusive in his praise for the Pakistan players, who won the Bangladesh tri series, beating arch rivals India in the finals, sayin that young blood in the team is working wonders for the team.

"All the players showed excellent spirit during the final and every player toiled hard to overcome India."

Ashraf had sent out a strongly worded e mail to the team management after India pounded Pakistan by 140 runs in the league stages. The manager Talat Ali was also asked to explain the loss.

Pakistan cricket, however has been dogged by controversies, the most recent of which surrounds Asif, held in the Dubai International Airport with a banned powder. He is still in detention as investigations continue.

Though the PCB has firmly stood behind the pacer, Ashraf reiterated that discipline will not be compromised with.

Another of Pakkistan's strike bowler, the perennial 'bad boy' of cricket, Shoaib Akhtar, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, including his frequent outbursts against his national Board.

Ashraf felt it was a matter of great pride for Pakistan that the ICC President, Ray Mali had himself come down to Pakistan to participate in the launching ceremony of Asia Cup.
