Miandad: PCB needs technocrats
Former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad has urged President Pervez Musharraf to replace the PCB with technocrats.
Miandad has held the Pakistan Cricket Board responsible for the recent controversies, including the latest Mohammad Asif drug scandal.
The former captain and coach believes the PCB was wrong in letting Asif and Shoaib Akhtar go scot free in 2006 after banning them for doping offences.
Miandad said the PCB compromised discipline and the tainted duo has brought only shame to Pakistan cricket.
Miandad urged President Musharraf, who is also the patron-in-chief of the PCB, to hire technocrats to run the Board.
"Every day there is a new controversy in the board and it is due to the non-technocrat persons handling the affairs of the country's most important game; it is the right time for the president to remove the entire board immediately and bring technocrats," he told The Dawn.
Miandad is among a growing number of former Pakistan players to slam the Board for its mishandling of the Shoaib-Asif scandal, including, Majid Khan, Rameez Raja, Zaheer Abbas and Sarfraz Nawaz.
