Victoria gear up for the finale

Ahead of their KFC Twenty20 Big Bash finale against the Southern Redbacks, the Victorian Bushrangers were forced to make several changes to their squad.

Overseas import Dwayne Bravo, who missed Victoria’s preliminary final contest against the Queensland Bulls, has been sidelined due to a fractured thumb.

New Zealand allrounder Ross Taylor will also be missing from action as he has returned home to fulfil domestic commitments.

The Bushrangers will go in the fifth consecutive Big Bash final without their overseas imports, captain and three front-line bowlers.

Skipper Cameron White will be absent from the Saturday’s final after he was included in the Australian one-day squad against Pakistan. Giving him company are fast bowlers and teammates Clint McKay and Peter Siddle.

David Hussey will lead the Victorians, while Glenn Maxwell, Rob Quiney and Aiden Blizzard have been included in the squad to make up for the missing stars.

Blizzard, who has not featured this Twenty20 season so far, will carry the Victorian mettle and Hussey will be hoping the left-hander repeats his 2007-08 Big Bash final performance. Then, Blizzard smashed 47 off 20 balls and was Man-of-the-Match.

Last season in the final, Quiney hit 91 off 56 balls against the New South Wales Blues but the Victorians lost the match.

Paceman Shane Harwood who has been recovering from a shoulder reconstruction is unlikely to feature against the Redbacks.
