ECB refuses to change schedule
The ECB spurned Champions League commissioner Lalit Modi's advice to tweak their domestic schedule.
"We will be very reluctant to change our schedules drawn up several months in advance," a ECB spokesman was quoted as saying in 'The Times'.
"ECB was consulted for Airtel CLT20"
"We have not got the scope for bringing the season forward because the championship starts on April 9 and the MCC game against Durham, the champions, is even in March.
"From our perspective it is going to be tough to do anything. There is no room for manoeuvre," he added.
Champions League commissioner Modi had given the ECB one week's time to change its domestic schedule, failing which counties would miss out on a chance to play in the global Twenty20 event to be held from September 10-26.
Modi said scheduling of the Twenty20 tournament was done after exploring all options and ECB chief executive David Collier was kept in the loop all along.
Collier reportedly has refused to spare any county side for Champions League, which might go ahead without any English team.
Apart from the final two rounds of the English County Championship, the Champions League coincides with the semi-finals and final of the Pro40 League and the ODI Series between England and Pakistan.
