Sangakkara to undergo surgery

Sri Lanka's wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara is to have a finger surgery next week, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Sangakkara performed poorly during the five-match one-day series against India, which Sri Lanka lost 3-2.

The left-hand batsman managed just 37 runs in five matches.

Sangakkara was nursing the injury during the series but will now fly to Australia where Dr Greg Hoy would conduct the surgery.

"Sangakkara who will need surgery on an injured finger," renowned orthopaedic surgeon said Dr David Young.

"Dr. Hoy was with me in Sri Lanka recently and saw examined the injury. Sangakkara is due to fly to Australia within a week."
