No retirement plans: Jayasuriya
Swashbuckling Sri Lankan Opener Sanath Jayasuriya will celebrate his 39th birthday on Monday with no retirement plans yet in sight.
Sri Lanka's highest Test scorer and the second-most capped player in one-day internationals, Jayasuriya recently demonstrated in the IPL that he has not lost his destructive ability to tear apart bowlers. He said he was still fit and raring to go.
"I don't think about my future plans," Jayasuriya said.
"As long as I am fit I will keep on going, I love this game and I still feel great after a good performance or seeing the team win," he added.
The southpaw retired from Test cricket in December last year after piling up 6,973 runs in 110 matches at an average of 40.07.
He continues to play in one-dayers, a form of the game that made him an idol in his country when his explosive batting at the top, with the equally effervescent Romesh Kaluwitharana, made him amongh the most feared openers in the world and helped Lanka win their maiden World Cup in 1996.
