Panesar gets back to basics
England spinner Monty Panesar has gone back to his basics in a desperate bid to revive his sagging career.
Repeated efforts by England’s spin-bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has only complicated Panesar, who has had to deal with a new weapon, the arm-ball.
"Over the past couple of weeks I've changed myself and gone back to just trying to bowl my stock ball all the time,I know that coming into this game [against Warwickshire] I'm looking to bowl my natural way. I'm not going to do any experimentation because I don't think it's the right time to do that." , Panesar was quoted by The Telegraph.
Panesar, who was dropped from the team that faced the West Indies at home would be under pressure from talented Yorkshire spinner, Adil Rashid.
Panesar realises that he needs to get back to bowling lots of bowlers and do what he has always done best, dry up the runs and take his spot as a strike bowler when the pitch wears down a little.
These are positive signs and by the look of things, Panesar has a battle on his hands to get back into the groove and for a man who snapped up the legendary Sachin Tendulkar as his first victim in Test cricket, grit should not be a problem.
