Brett Lee suffers rib injury

Australia fast bowler Brett Lee is a doubt for the first npower Ashes Test in Cardiff after suffering a rib injury.

Lee, one of the survivors of the 2005 Ashes defeat, reported soreness in the left side of his ribs after the draw with England Lions.

The 32-year-old was due to undergo a scan on Monday and his participation on Wednesday is now in question.

The results of that scan are not expected until late on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Lee put himself into serious contention for a return to international action with six first-innings wickets against England's second string last week.

He had been sidelined prior to this tour with foot and heel injuries and Mitchell Johnson and Peter Siddle impressed in his absence during the 2-1 Test campaign win in South Africa.

His last Test was back in December, in fact, when the South Africans romped to a nine-wicket win at the MCG.
