Kumar Sangakkara's unbeaten 45 off 44 balls in Kings XI Punjab's total of 119 for eight against Mumbai Indians, ultimately proved a match-winning innings.
As acting captain in Yuvraj Singh's absence, he led the side superbly in the closing stages to ensure an exciting three-run victory for his team - Kings XI Punjab's third in five games in the 2009 edition.
Highlights:
Sangakkara's aforesaid sensible innings got him his third Man of the Match award in the IPL.
His earlier two awards were against Mumbai Indians at Mohali on April 25, 2008 and Rajasthan Royals at Cape Town on April 26, 2009.
Sangakkara's aggregate of 165 (ave.41.25) is the best by any player from Kings XI Punjab and his tally is bettered only by Matthew Hayden (215), Herschelle Gibbs (183) and Abraham de Villiers (176).
