Yuvraj Singh has dismissed reports of a rift between him and MS Dhoni on the captaincy issue as baseless.

The Punjab southpaw, who will be Dhoni's deputy for the upcoming tri-series in Bangladesh and the Asia Cup in Pakistan, said that while he continues to harbour hopes of captaining India some day, being overlooked for the job has not created a rift between him and Dhoni.

"I think things like rivarly and confrontation are talks stirred up by the media," he said.

"Both of us are very good friends and help each other at any time because we understand how the game has to be played," he added.

Yuvraj said that he will never let his personal ambitions come in the way of the team's good.
