Sehwag-Gambhir the best: Akram

Cricket legend Wasim Akram has attributed India's consistent successes to the "best one-day openers in world cricket".

"(Virender) Sehwag and (Gautam) Gambhir are the best one-day openers in world cricket. They are consistent, they play till the very end and they change the course of the game in the first 15 overs," Akram told Mobile ESPN after India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in their tri-series game on Thursday.

This was India's second straight win. They had earlier beaten arch-rivals Pakistan by a huge 140 runs on Tuesday.

Akram said that if any team "has openers like them then that team will perform consistently".

The Sultan of Swing pointed out that India may face some trouble if either of the two openers were to fall cheaply, but added that till such time they were "very very dangerous".

He praised the Indian fielding calling it "incredible" and observed that India were miles ahead of the other two teams in the tournament.

The cricketer-turned-expert commentator said India had made both the games in the tournament a one-sided affair and that will help them gain more confidence.

"There will be no pressure on them, they will take this confidence forward in to the finals. India is truly one of the best sides in the world now," he said.
