Gambhir climbs to 20th spot

Leading ODI run-getter in 2008, India's Gautam Gambhir has climbed seven places to sit at 20th place in the latest ODI rankings.

Even though India lost the tri-series final to Pakistan, Gambhir finished as the leading scorer of the tournament with 209 runs.

Gambhir is the fourth Indian batsman in the top 20 after Tendulkar, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (9th) and Yuvraj Singh (14th).

The biggest jump in the ICC ODI batting rankings has, however, been registered by Virender Sehwag. His 150 runs in the tri-series has helped him rocket 11 places to 38th position.

Pakistani opener Salman Butt has also jumped seven places to 16th spot and joins countrymate Mohammad Yousuf as the second Pakistani batsman to figure in the top 20 list. Yousuf is placed fourth.

In the bowling rankings, Shahid Afridi has climbed four places to sixth, his best-ever ranking. Another Pakistani bowler Umar Gul, who was the leading wicket-taker in the series with nine victims, also jumped 10 places to 21st place.
