Gustavo signs new Hoffenheim deal

Luiz Gustavo has committed his future to Hoffenheim until 2014 after signing an extension to his contract.

Luiz Gustavo has committed his future to Hoffenheim until 2014 after signing an extension to his contract today.

Gustavo's previous deal was still due to run until the end of June 2011, but he has followed the example of Vedad Ibisevic and Carlos Eduardo by agreeing an extension which means Hoffenheim can plan with three of their top players in the long term.

"Luiz has developed really well since he has been in Hoffenheim and he was one of the best defensive midfielders in the league last season," said director of sport Jan Schindelmeiser on the club's website.

"He is a key member of our team and we are delighted that we can continue our work together until 2014."

The 22-year-old has played 55 games since arriving from Clube de Regatas Brasil in 2007, although he has yet to open his account for the Bundesliga side.
