Robben delight with debut double

Arjen Robben has revealed his delight after scoring two goals on his debut for Bayern Munich.

With Bayern leading thanks to Mario Gomez's 27th minute strike, Robben, who only joined the German giants from Real Madrid on Friday, came on as a substitute early in the second half of Bayern's 3-0 defeat of Wolfsburg and had an immediate impact on the game.

Released by Franck Ribery, Robben drove into the Wolfsburg penalty area, his shot taking a slight deflection off Andrea Barzagli on its way past Diego Benaglio and into the back of the net.

Wolfsburg tried to fight back when Dzeko hit the post in the 72nd minute.

Moments later, Philipp Lahm had to make a goalline clearance to prevent Grafite from scoring.

But Robben settled Bayern's nerves with his second goal on his debut with Ribery again involved as the Bavarians launched a quick counter-attack which Robben concluded with a low shot underneath Benaglio to seal Bayern's first win of the season in style.

Not surprisingly Robben was delighted to get his Bayern stint off to a winning start.

"I think we played well as a team, it was the first time I saw them play," he said.

"We controlled the game well and we scored two good goals, with a bit of luck we could have scored a few more. At the moment, I feel really good on the right, but I can play on the left too.

"The main thing is I had the freedom to move: I started on the right, but switched to the left after Franck put me away and it is important to be flexible."

Despite constant speculation linking Ribery with a move away from Bayern, Robben also declared that the Bavarian side's hierarchy had given him assurances that the France international was set to stay.

"He is a great player, we have a good understanding and it was part of the reason I signed," said the Dutchman.

"I want him to stay and the club has promised me he will."
